About Renee Webb – Office Manager
Renee Webb is the office manager for Nelson Law Group, PC and has been a guiding force in our firm since 2016. She was initially our legal assistant but eventually transitioned to the office manager role in 2018. In her current role, Renee handles everything from client care to invoices, payroll, billing, IT, marketing, human resources, and even taking the lead on resolv-ing difficult client situations with the experienced and compassionate approach our clients deserve. Her background in cus-tomer service, coupled with her warmth and professionalism, has been essential to our success.
A longtime resident of Flower Mound, Renee previously worked as an insurance account manager and earned her licenses in property/casualty and life/health insurance. She has a BS degree in Marketing from the University of Colorado and devotes a significant amount of her time and talents to volunteering in the community. Because of her passion for helping people, she loves each and every day at work and is confident she has found a home with the Nelson Law family.
Renee and husband, Andy, first met in high school in Colorado and have been married for more than 25 years. They have two boys, Garrett and Ryan. Renee thrives on volunteering at church, at her kids’ schools, and with Boy Scouts as well as reading, traveling, and enjoying family movie night.
About Mary Lisa Bell – Paralegal
Mary Lisa Bell joined Nelson Law Group, PC in January 2017. She brings to the table over 26 years of experience in Family Law, Estate Planning, and Probate, which includes spending several years working as a paralegal for a family law firm in McKinney. It was during that time she got to know Brett Nelson, and when the opportunity came up to work alongside him, she eagerly accepted it.
Originally from Pampa, Texas, Mary Lisa attended Texas Tech University then moved to Dallas in 1994 to begin her stellar career. She developed a reputation for being a quick learner, propelling her career as a paralegal. Her extensive work history includes 10 years at Sullivan, Parker & Cook law firm in downtown Dallas. She also spent time at Plano-based Gay, McCall, Isaacks, Gordon, & Roberts and the Puhl, Berbarie, & Hewett law offices in McKinney.
Her vast knowledge, compassion, and enduring commitment toward fighting for family rights made Mary Lisa a must-have addition to the Nelson Law family.
Mary Lisa and husband, Tom, live in McKinney and have been happily married for 20 years. They have two active boys and two adorable dogs. Mary Lisa’s hobbies include gardening, reading, and cheering for her beloved Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys.
About Kristen Dobbs — Paralegal
Kristen Dobbs is a part-time paralegal with Nelson Law Group, PC and spends the majority of her time diligently working on our Personal Injury and Contract Litigation cases. She also has the experience necessary to compassionately handle some of our sensitive family law cases. She joined the firm in April 2019 and brought to the table a wealth of experience, having worked as a paralegal for three prestigious Dallas firms throughout her career.
A resident of Highland Village for the last 10 years, Kristen has an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies from El Centro College in Dallas. She quickly earned the attention of Brett Nelson, who offered her an opportunity to work closer to home and excel with a growing firm. Naturally, Kristen jumped at the opportunity.
Kristen and husband, Justin, are active members of The Village Church. They have three children between the ages of 4 and 10 (Cardyn, Park, and Pace) as well as two dogs, Piper and Wookie. Kristen’s hobbies include working on crafts with Cardyn and spending as much downtime as possible with friends and family.
About Jodi Moss – Paralegal
Jodi Moss is a full-time paralegal with Nelson Law Group, P.C. and brings with her a well-rounded background in the legal world. Over the last several years, Jodi has assisted various firms and agencies throughout Dallas-Fort Worth in the specialty areas of family, business, personal injury, bankruptcy, civil law, and medical malpractice law. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies in 2010 and joined our family law firm in January 2017. She began her tenure in family law in Denton County and was excited to come back to Denton County with Brett to help as many families as they can.
What helps set Jodi apart with our clients is that she has been in many of their shoes. Her parents were divorced when she was 9 years old, and before that they had separated three times. She has used those experiences to not only offer sound advice to our growing list of clients, but also does so in a way that is compassionate and keeps the client and their family’s needs top of mind. Jodi is passionate about parents truly seeking the best interest of their children and themselves.
Jodi has always wanted to be that helping hand, the one that helps you up when you are stumbling. Before studying to be a paralegal, she graduated from nursing school when she was 20 and went on to specialize in critical care nursing at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She is an avid dog owner. Jodi lives in Watauga with her husband, Tom. They’ve been married for 24 years and have one daughter, Emma (19).
About Ebony Zavala — Law Clerk
Ebony is the full-time bilingual law clerk at Nelson Law Group PC and has quickly become an invaluable asset for our grow-ing team of experienced lawyers and paralegals. Despite being fresh out of college, Ebony was highly recommended to our firm and consistently shows off her versatility by confidently handling everything from basic filings to assisting with case loads and compiling comprehensive exhibit books for trial.
Ebony graduated from the University of North Texas in December 2018 with a degree in Criminal Justice. Eventually, she would love to pursue her dreams of doing private investigation or detective work for local law enforcement or other agencies, but she’s enjoying becoming more well-rounded by learning the law from a different perspective.
Ebony is originally from Big Spring in West Texas. She currently lives in Denton with her mini-schnauzer, Leo, and is an avid kickboxer/workout enthusiast and bowling aficionado.
About Kendall Nelms — Receptionist
Kendall Nelms is the receptionist for Nelson Law Group, PC. She joined our team in November 2019 and is the first friendly face our clients see when they visit the office. Her experience in customer service, computer systems, and marketing, cou-pled with her warm smile and youthful exuberance, has been essential in helping our clients feel valued when they call or stop by. On top of that, our legal team feels like they have a true teammate backing them up every day.
Originally from Howe, Texas, Kendall grew up in the country and surrounded by farm animals before leaving to attend Mid-western State University, where she earned a degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. She always imagined special-izing in children’s play therapy but is now enjoying the freedom after college and is currently planning for the long term. Be-fore joining the Nelson Law family, she worked as an administrative assistant for a real estate development firm in Allen.
Kendall now lives in Denton and enjoys reading and spending quality time with friends.
