Shelby Wetsel is a compassionate, highly-skilled Texas family law attorney. She joined our firm in September 2024 after graduating from the prestigious Texas Tech University School of Law. In October 2024, she successfully passed the bar exam and is eager to use her newfound role alongside our growing team of lawyers to provide value and selfless advocacy for our clients and their families. Shelby has a put-me-in-coach mentality and prides herself on sensitivity, communication, a strong sense of purpose, and being solutions-minded no matter the situation.

Hailing from Sweetwater, Texas, Shelby’s road to finding her true calling as a lawyer was far from a straight line. She earned a Master’s Degree and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Texas Tech in 2018 and spent the early part of her career working as an environmental facilities engineer for ExxonMobil. The opportunity arose to continue her work in Mozambique, Africa, but she declined. Around this time, she developed a strong interest in the law and ultimately chose to pursue her Juris Doctor. During her studies, she interned with the Hearings Division of the Railroad Commission of Texas. She also spent time as a summer intern for the Texas Tech University System Office of General Counsel and as a legal intern for the Honorable United States District Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk in Amarillo. Before joining our firm, she was a qualified student representative for the Texas Tech University School of Law Family Law Clinic.

Shelby fits in perfectly with the ideals of this practice. She believes the best lawyers have vast legal knowledge and are willing to walk clients step-by-step through whatever they are going through, whether it be a contested divorce or a complicated child custody battle.

In her free time, Shelby is always up for eating at a local restaurant, dancing, traveling, and taking in a good stand-up comedy show. She also loves attending concerts, watching sports, and spending time with friends and family. She and her husband, Quentin, were married in 2023 but have been close friends since elementary school. Quentin is in energy law and was in the final year of law school when Shelby made her career shift to family law.
