Ryan Thornhill is a well-respected and versatile family law attorney and has been with our firm since October 2020. He brings a wealth of hands-on experience in several practice areas, most notably family law. He is also skilled in civil and business law matters, personal injury, settlement negotiations, and appeals. He welcomes every opportunity to provide clients with peace of mind and a commitment to seeking the best possible outcomes through practical and compassionate legal representation and advocacy.
Originally from Springfield, Missouri, Ryan comes from a family of successful legal professionals. This includes his parents, who spent their careers practicing law in Missouri. As much as he loves his hometown, Ryan said he was eager to carve his own path in a new city. That ultimately brought him to North Texas, where he earned a B.A. in Strategic Communications from Texas Christian University. He was on the pre-law track the entire time but also dabbled in social media and sports marketing before diving headfirst into his passion for law. He previously worked as a law clerk and associate attorney at Rames Law Firm P.C. and expertly handled everything from civil cases to drafting family law motions and appellate briefs. He also assisted on cases in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Before that, Ryan spent time as a judicial intern with the Honorable Judge Bonnie Lee Goldstein of the Dallas District 44 and Judge Ken Tapscott in Dallas County Court-At-Law No. 4.
Ryan has enjoyed his time thus far at Nelson Law Group, which he said earned itself a distinguished reputation many years ago as a firm that goes beyond the courtroom to foster personal relationships with clients through devoted, individualized attention. His idea of practicing law is to help people, and he feels Nelson Law Group provides the place to establish himself as a personable, diligent attorney.
Away from the legal world, the biggest news in Ryan’s life is that he and his beautiful wife, Chandler, were married in December 2023. The happy couple met through mutual friends at Mi Cocina restaurant. Chandler is also from the Midwest (Kansas City) and has a big family that has welcomed Ryan with open arms. In his free time, Ryan enjoys golf, reading, cooking on his new hibachi grill, exercising, and watching TCU football.
