Josh Horton
Paralegal
Josh Horton has quickly become an integral part of our paralegal team since joining us in July 2025. However, his impressive resume is not something you often see in the legal world. Before joining our firm, Josh compiled a distinguished 22-year career in both the U.S. Navy and Air Force as an anti-terrorism officer and NCIS physical security specialist. His military career took him across the globe to 26 countries, including assignments in various U.S.-based locations such as Virginia, San Diego, Pensacola, Chicago, and Seattle. While in the military, he began exploring paralegal work and is eager to leverage all of these experiences and more into a long and successful legal career with Nelson Law Group.
Born and raised in Dallas, Josh began his military career in 2003, initially aspiring to become a Navy SEAL. His career went a slightly different direction, but certainly didn’t lack excitement or opportunity. Over the past nine years, he has moved between reserve duty and active service, and at least one of his posts included training officers at 11 bases, covering a range of topics from tactical and weapons training to everything they’d need to know about law enforcement.
When not on duty, he served as an athletic director and coach for private schools in California and Washington. When he wasn’t doing that, he played semi-pro arena football and worked out for several NFL and CFL teams. Oh, and he’s also a DJ on the side, proving that he may be the most interesting paralegal in the world. Josh is excited to be back in his hometown and working for what he considers the top law firm in North Texas.
In whatever free time he has left, Josh lives for spending time with his wife of nine years, Lacey, and their son, Jace. Josh also has a 16-year-old son, Kaleb.
