Jim Ashmore

Jim Ashmore brings over 30 years of legal experience to Nelson Law Group, where he focuses on family law, probate, and mediation. Known for his integrity, practical legal advice, and dedication to finding amicable solutions, Jim is a trusted advocate for his clients. As a credentialed mediator and certified ad litem, he is equipped to represent individuals who are unable to represent themselves. While his preference is to resolve matters peacefully, Jim is prepared to fight for the best possible outcomes when necessary.

Jim earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1992, with additional studies as a Visiting Scholar at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. He has been a fixture in the Denton County legal community since 1997, serving as President of the Denton County Bar Association and receiving numerous honors, including recognition by Texas Super Lawyers and Martindale-Hubbell.

Outside of his legal career, Jim enjoys spending time at his property in Galveston where he loves to fish and relax along the Gulf Coast. He is excited to contribute to Nelson Law Group’s commitment to personalized client service.
